

American Rebel Light NHRA 4-Wide Nationals Sunday preview

After two days of qualifying, the pro fields are set for this weekend’s American Rebel Light NHRA 4-Wide Nationals and Sunday’s final eliminaitons promise to deliver the sort of drama and excitement that NHRA fans have come to expect.Ìý
The Top Fuel field features Brittany Force, who made history on Friday with the first 340-mph dragster pass. Force also ran a very competitive 3.667, which is good for the No. 3 spot, ahead of Kalitta Motorsports teammates Doug Kalitta and Shawn Langdon, who ran 3.646 and 3.665 respectively.Ìý
Kalitta also won Saturday’s Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge in his Mac Tools entry.Ìý
Paul Lee, who won his first nitro Funny Car race earlier this season in Phoenix, is the leader with a 3.829 in his McLeod/FTI Dodge. Lee is one of eight drivers in the 3.8s along with Austin Prock, Daniel Wilkerson, and Spencer Hyde, who is one of the leading contenders for the Rookie of the Year award.
There were 23 Pro Stock cars vying for just 16 available spots which made for a very competitive 6.574-second bump spot by six-time champ Erica Enders. At the front of the field, Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge winner Dallas Glenn occupies the top spot with a 6.502 while teammate Greg Anderson is second with an identical elapsed time.Ìý
Gaige Herrera has continued to lead the way in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class with a 6.680 on his RevZilla/Vance & Hines Suzuki that is good for the top spot in the 15-bike field. ÌýTeammate Richard Gadson, fresh off a Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge win, is qualified No. 2 at 6.759 while leading contender Matt Smith has taken the third spot at 6.773.
Sunday’s packed schedule also features final eliminations in the Congruity Pro Mod series, Johnson’s Horsepowerd Garage Mountain Motor Pro Stock, Holley EFI Factory X, and FlexJet Factory Showdown, and Lucas Oil Drag Racing series sportsman categories.Ìý
