Dates set For Right Trailers NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Conference Finals
The dates are set for two of the marquee highlights during the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League season, as the Right Trailers NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals returns to famed Texas Motorplex on June 13-15 and the Right Trailers NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals will take place July 17-19.
Hundreds of young drivers participate in both events in the JDRL, a popular racing league for kids ages 5-17. The league continues to thrive, thanks in part to these two massive events, which help further growth in drag racing and propel aspiring drivers in the sport.
“Right Trailers is once again proud to be the title sponsor for the Eastern Conference Finals and Western Conference Finals,” Right Trailers President Michael Scott said. “Our continued support is a result of the dedication that each Jr. Dragster racer demonstrates while on the track and off the track. Their commitment to doing their best and developing into great racers and young adults is absolutely worth every penny we put into this program. Anything we can do to elevate this next generation of racers will always be top of mind at Right Trailers.”
After a highly successful debut at the historic Texas Motorplex in 2024, the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals returns with plenty of excitement. The event will be one of the highlights on the Texas Motorplex schedule, bringing an added Texas flair to the popular event. For a second consecutive year, the famed facility is excited to host the young racers, building upon a great first season hosting the Western Conference Finals.
“We’re thrilled to host the JDRL Western Conference Finals for a second year at the Texas Motorplex! It’s an incredible opportunity to bring together Jr. racers from across the country for a week of fierce competition and camaraderie at this historic track,” said Christie Meyer-Johnson, co-owner of the Texas Motorplex. “The Motorplex has long been a cornerstone of drag racing, and we can’t wait to see these talented young drivers cement their place in drag racing history during our 40th anniversary season.”
The fan-favorite Bristol Dragway has remained a popular destination for the Right Trailers NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League Eastern Conference Finals, and the July event is sure to deliver. Dating back to 2004, the event has been the mainstay at picturesque Thunder Valley, providing an incredible backdrop, thrilling racing, and a memorable weekend for everyone involved.
“All of us at Bristol Dragway are so proud of our longtime association with the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing Eastern Conference Finals, it truly is an amazing event,” said Jerry Caldwell, president and general manager of Bristol Motor Speedway and Bristol Dragway. “The kids have so much fun during the weeklong event, but more importantly, they learn about intense competition, the value of teamwork, and the importance of sportsmanship while pursuing their racing dreams. We can’t wait to host these future stars of drag racing once again in July at Thunder Valley.”
NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League competitor’s race cars, called Jr. Dragsters, are half-scale versions of the iconic Top Fuel dragsters. They go as fast as 85 mph and as quick as 7.90 seconds in the eighth-mile using a five-horsepower, single-cylinder engine, though younger age groups are restricted to slower times and speeds.
Since its start in 1992, the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League has provided a place for young racers to compete and been the start for many top NHRA professional drivers. The list includes world champions like Pro Stock’s Erica Enders and Top Fuel driver Shawn Langdon, who won a JDRL national championship in 1997, as well as standouts such as Top Fuel’s Leah Pruett; Funny Car driver J.R. Todd, and many more.
