JHG Mountain Motor Pro Stock series opens 2025 season at zMAX Dragway

The Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage (JHG) NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock series launches its 2025 season this weekend at the American Rebel Light NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway. The event just outside of Charlotte is the first of eight on the JHG Mountain Motor Pro Stock schedule.
“We’re looking forward to another season sponsoring the Mountain Motor Pro Stock series in the NHRA,” said Jason Johnson, owner of JHG. “Last year was a lot of fun, it was great to be involved, and we’re excited to expand the series from six to eight races this year. Charlotte and zMAX Dragway is the perfect spot to kick off the season; it’s a great facility and a great racetrack.”
The 2024 JHG Mountain Motor Pro Stock series had fierce competition across six races, with Johnny Pluchino emerging as the inaugural champion. Driving his Feather-Lite Batteries Ford Mustang, Pluchino clinched the title by just qualifying for the Ford Performance NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas. He secured wins in Richmond, Virginia, and Reading, along with a runner-up finish in the spring at zMAX Dragway before capping off the season with a win at the Las Vegas finale.
Pluchino’s consistent performance, including a 6.300-second pass to win the Las Vegas final against Randi Lyn Butner, earned him an 81-point lead over runner-up Bo Butner. Butner, a former 91 Pro Stock champion, won in the spring event at zMAX and in Bristol, while Brad Waddle claimed the victory in Brainerd. The series showcased low six-second runs and speeds exceeding 225 mph, captivating fans with its 800-plus-cubic-inch machines.
The 2025 season opener at zMAX Dragway promises more high-stakes racing, with teams fine-tuning their machines to qualify for the eight-car field. With JHG’s support, the series is set to deliver another year of heart-pounding performances and fierce battles for the championship.
Competition in the JHG Mountain Motor Pro Stock series at the American Rebel Light NHRA 4-Wide Nationals starts with three sessions of qualifying Friday at 2:20 and 4 p.m. and Saturday at noon. Eliminations begin Saturday at 4:30 p.m. with the first round and continue Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
