During Friday Pro Stock qualifying at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, Greg Anderson reset the Pro Stock national elapsed time record with a pass of 6.443 seconds, breaking the old mark of 6.450 set three years ago at the same event.

“When I was getting buckled into my car and watched a couple of my team cars — Eric Latino and Deric Kramer — go out there and run 6.46, I was like, ‘Wow, is it really that fast out here? Can I do that? Can I run .46 or even .45?’ And somehow, we surpassed them both,” said Anderson. “The conditions were just right; Pro Stock people live for conditions like that, and it was beyond cool. It feels so good to run fast like that and get back to setting records.”

Incredibly, it’s the first time that Anderson, the winningest driver in class history with 106 victories, has held the national record since 2009, when the mark was 6.528 and the cars were still carbureted rather than fuel injected.

Anderson’s first career national elapsed time record came back in 2003 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, where his 6.670 at 207.18 mph reset both ends of the mark. Since then, Anderson had reset the record for e.t. six more times leading up to his Gainesville record.

“We worked so hard over the winter, and you just never know if what you see on the dyno is going to translate to the racetrack. I’d say it translated pretty darn well,” said Anderson, who went on to runner-up on Sunday behind KB Titan Racing teammate Dallas Glenn. “The only thing that would have made it better would have been winning that final round, but it was a great, great weekend for me and for this KB Titan Racing team.”

Here's a comparison between Anderson's 2025 record run and Enders' 2022 mark, which was set in round one at the 2022 event. Although the cars launched the same, Anderson really made hay between 60 feet and 330 feet and then even more between 330 and 660.
