Tommy Johnson Jr. battles crew chief John Collins at Wild Wednesday at Lucas Oil Raceway
Wild Wednesday is one of the most popular events at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis for good reason. Everyone from NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing fans to, yes, regulars in the professional series, enjoys heading to Indy to cut loose midweek. Tommy Johnson Jr. and his Make-a-Wish Funny Car crew chief, John Collins, are no exception.Ěý
The duo faced off at Wild Wednesday, Johnson in the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and Collins in his Tesla S. Johnson earned the right to drive the Hellcat for 2019 based on his Countdown to the Championship performance in 2018 -- so yes, it's fair to say Collins was up against tough competition because of his own performance during the playoffs. Collins got the headstart in his 60-foot-friendly electric machine and, well, you can catch the rest of the action in the video below.Ěý
Three-time Top Fuel champion Antron Brown and his son Anson also hit the strip, but not in street cars. Anson took a few passes in his Jr. Dragster, a car that at least resembles his father's Matco Tools Top Fuel machine.
