NHRA Museum Twilight Cruise Toy Drive united car enthusiasts for a cause
This festive collaboration drew more than 100 classic cars, hot rods, and muscle cars to Fairplex Gate 2 at 1101 W. McKinley Ave. in Pomona, Calif. The event, which ran from 2 to 7 p.m., celebrated car culture while giving back to the community.
Participants brought $10 unwrapped toys to support the CHP’s Chips for Kids toy drive. Each donation earned an extra raffle ticket for the evening’s drawing, adding excitement to the lively event. The atmosphere buzzed with music, food vendors, and the unmistakable sound of bench racing.
The Twilight Cruise Night showcased pre-1989 vehicles, which lined the parking lot outside the museum’s iconic art deco-style exhibition building. The historic museum itself, a 30,000-square-foot tribute to racing and hot rodding, remained open to visitors, offering exhibits that trace the thrilling history of motorsports.
Proceeds from the evening went to support the NHRA Wally Parks Motorsports Museum, furthering its mission to preserve and celebrate automotive history. The toy drive portion of the event ensured a brighter holiday season for local children in need, reinforcing the strong community bond that underpins the museum’s activities.
As the 2024 Twilight Cruise season wrapped up, attendees left with a sense of camaraderie and purpose. The museum looks forward to welcoming enthusiasts back in the spring when Twilight Cruise Nights return in the spring. Until then, the museum remains open year-round for visitors eager to explore its rich collection of racing artifacts and hot rod history.
