2022 NHRA Rookie of the Year finalist Scott Farley will return to the Top Fuel wars in 2023 as a team owner and will compete in a handful of NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series events.

After launching his career at the NHRA Winternationals in Terry Haddock’s dragster, Farley competed in four more races in Terry Totten’s dragster, highlighted by a first-round win in Epping over then reigning world champ Steve Torrence.

“During the 2022 NHRA season, I had the privilege of being connected to Terry Totten by a friend [and fellow Top Fuel racer] Buddy Hull,” said Farley. “Over the course of the year, we worked together during four races. The year was a fantastic success, and the team worked well together.

“The team really came together to help me learn about Top Fuel racing. This great experience and learning forged my commitment to Top Fuel, and Terry agreed to my purchase of the dragster.

“As things change, things stay the same. While ownership of the dragster has come over to me, the team is still intact and ready to race. Every member of the team brought many great things to the total package in 2022. The whole team will continue to race and work together in 2023.

“The backbone of the team will be Terry Totten, Dave Lowe, Dave Lindsey, and Dave Nelson. I can’t thank these gentlemen enough for their help, support, hard work, and imparting of their many years of wisdom to the team. They know how to get the job done and have a great time while we do it! I also appreciate the incredible support of my wife, Michelle Torromeo. Without her at my side, this would not be possible.”

Because of his full-time job as a pilot for UPS, and Totten’s own obligations, the ScottRod Racing team will run a limited schedule comprised of at least four NHRA events in 2023 with the possibility of more based on funding.

“We know that we are the ‘little guys’ in this sport, but our drive and love of Top Fuel racing will be on display at every event we attend,” he said. “We thank everyone that has supported us through this endeavor and look forward to your future support.”
