Points structure revisions announced for Top Alcohol classes
NHRA officials have announced two revisions to the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national and regional points structure for the 2022 season for Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car competitors.
Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car competitors at a national or regional event will have the option to not claim an event for points. ÌýTo take advantage of this option, teams will need to notify the Division Director prior to the first pair of cars starting for the first qualifying session if they elect to not claim the event points. If the division director has not been notified prior to your respective first qualifying session, the event will count towards your championship points total. Ìý
For regional events, whether you elect to claim or not claim the points for the regional NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Championship, points will still be earned toward the JEGS Allstars program.
Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car national and regional NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Championship points structure has been modified for the 2022 season as follows:Ìý
Ìý
National Championship:
Each Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver is eligible to earn points at their first six regional and first 10 national events. A driver’s best four regional and best six national finishes from their eligible points earning events will constitute their NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series national championship points total.
Regional Championship:
Each Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car driver may compete for home-region NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series points at up to seven regional events and will be credited with their best five finishes (including up to two out-of-region races. A minimum of three home region events must apply in final total) counting toward the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series regional championship. Ìý
