Victories by Fletcher, Sawyer, DiGenova, and Munroe conclude SPORTSnationals
The rain-delayed Aug, 22-23 JEGS SPORTSnationals from New England Dragway was finally completed Oct. 1 during the Division 1 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Virginia Motorsports Park.
Thomas Fletcher won Stock eliminator in his E/SA ‘67 Camaro, running 11.110 on his 11.09 dial to defeat Russell “Bubba” Linke and his B/SA '97 Camaro, which trialed with a 10.501 on its 10.43 objective. The win was the third of Fletcher’s career.
Super Street honors went to Brian Sawyer, who wheeled his '67 Camaro to a 10.943 to defeat Taylor Iacono, whose ‘99 S-10 clocked a losing 10.960. The victory also was the third of Sawyer’s career.
Deborah DiGenova claimed her second career Top Dragster crown on Vince Musolino’s final-round foul start,
In Top Sportsman, Craig Munroe drove away with his first Wally in his '71 Duster after John Benoit broke out with a 6.49 on his 6.5 dial-in with his Corvette. Munroe was safe for the win with a 7.26 on a 7.25 target.
The other rain-delayed eliminators were completed last weekend at the Division 1 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Maple Grove Raceway where Frank Aragona Jr. (Comp), Bryan Worner (Super Stock), Walter Olt (Super Comp), and Jason Kenny (Super Gas) collected victories.
